The best on the market

I am what I would call a coffee snob. My day doesn't start right until I have a GREAT cup of coffee. And this one delivers. I had a Cusinart grind and brew and it was a huge disappointment. So I sucked it up and purchased the "mac-daddy" with all the bells and whistles and I am once again in love with the morning. I too had problems with the buttons sticking, but I got a brand new replacement and excellent customer service from Melitta. The only problem was having to go back to the Cusinart in the interim. I have had this one now for 7 months and no issues. My brother has one, my father has one - and I have not heard either of them mention any problems.

Not sure why some others gave this great coffeemaker a bad review. Mine works great. Makes the best coffee too. My daughter says it is better than Starbucks! The MSN Weather feature is great and works constantly. A great product at a great price. I purchased this after reading the reviews. My mom swears by Melitta. Now, so do I. Great product, easy to use, easy to program, easy to mill, easy to brew. Great cup of coffee. I picked up a beans at Sam's for my brew on the cheap. Easy to clean and I use the grinds out in my garden. At the price it is a good value. Hope this helps others to try what I found to be a good product. The system is built to wash easily. The Silver steel face plate is heavy duty and so are the buttons. The water is easy to fill and easy to see.

No matter how many times we follow the instructions in the manual, we cannot get this machine to enable the advance brew function overnight. Every morning, we're treated to a picture of a sleeping cat on the screen and the brew function reset to "off."
Cute cat, but we'd prefer the coffee.

I had high hopes, but am returning this product. The heat plate is not hot enough, we kept finding coffee grounds in the pot, and the weather feature spent more time w/o a signal that it spent w/one. The clock is tied into the signal so the time auto brew is impossible to use w/o a signal. The coffee it made was ok, once we started using filters, but only ok, never great. I'm disappointed.

Warming Plate Problem

I loved this coffeemaker and wish I didn't have to return it, but the warming plate would only stay on for 1 hour when the coffe was finished and it was impossible to turn it back on.
We even contacted customer service, because we thought surely there was a way. No joy, though - all they could tell us was that it was a "safety feauture".
You simply cannot turn the warming plate back on and this doesn't work for us, as my husband gets up an hour later then I do and doesn't like to microwave his coffee.

I got this as a Christmas gift from my tech geek husband. He bought it because of the gadget factor. Honestly, I don't care about any of that. I personally think the interface is a pain, and apparently no one tested out the leap year functionality (I can't get the thing to display the correct day now that it's 2008). Overall, I can't say that I am happy with it, but at the same time I am not completely disappointed.

The coffee making feature set of of this product are great. However, I've found one major floor relative to my expectations. It cannot tell the time without a fix on a radio signal.
Not having a backup time keeping option for those areas where signal is intermittent enough to interfere with its ability to reliably brew at the desired time in the morning is kind of dumb!
The MSN weather stuff is a nice to have, but arbitrarily tying core functions of a coffee maker of this type, such as scheduled brewing, to a none traditional element without offering some form of independent operation is bad decision. I could have lived with intermittent weather information if I was able to schedule a brew time without having to worry about radio reception.
Where are thier design priorities? A coffee maker that can reliably deliver traditional / standard features or one with features that can dominate and adversely influence what it should do, brew coffee at a desired time.

I've had this coffee pot for less than a year, and until recently it worked well--although I hate that I don't get the time and weather due to location--but just now it's started leaking if I brew more than 6 cups, filling the heating plate with water, from where I don't know. And after the brewing cycle is finished, sometimes as late as going for my second cup, coffee suddenly pours from the spout like it's brewing all over again when I remove the carafe. It's very frustrating, especially since I paid $200 when this model first came out and now I already have to buy a new one. I loved Melitta's other grind and brew model and think I'll go back to it.

The coffee maker and weather updates are really nice. The machine has one MAJOR problem for me. It has an auto shut off after 1 hour. There does not seem to be a way around this. My husband makes coffee when he wakes up at 4:50. By the time I get up the coffee has gone cold. This was not a problem with our old coffee maker that stayed on 2 hours and had an on/off switch that worked. There does not seem to be a way to turn the machine back on after you turn it off. I have written the company and am waiting for a response. It is a shame that I was the one to buy the maker and my husband is the only one who can enjoy it!

The combination grinder/coffee maker brews excellent coffee. It is limited to eight scoops of coffee - fine for a 'normal' brew. We like coffee exceptionally strong, so we only brew 8 cups at a time. The filter takes a bit of getting used to when you seat it in the machine - not a problem, just an observation.
The weather feature works well. Unfortunately for us, we are on a 'boundary' between FM feeds and the system picks up weather from the Central Valley of California - quite a bit different from the Bay area where we live. This is not a big problem, since the overall forecasts are pretty much the same.
The system picks up date and time information from the 'atomic' clock - a very very nice feature to have in a kitchen where the other clocks slowly drift off the correct time.
Overall an excellent product that I would buy again.
